Description
Replace your cracked, broken, or damaged Nissan Navara airbag sensor.
Airbag Sensors (Squib / Clock Spring)
Activation of your vehicle’s airbag system is triggered by the crash sensors (impact sensors) when the car is involved in a collision. The crash sensor detects frontal impact and signals the control unit, which then deploys the airbag to help protect the driver and passengers.
The clock spring is a component containing a wound, flexible wire that allows the airbag, horn, and steering wheel buttons to remain connected while the steering wheel is turned left or right.
On newer vehicles, a pedestrian airbag system may also be fitted. This system is designed to reduce injury to pedestrians at impact speeds between 12 mph and 30 mph. Multiple sensors positioned at the front of the vehicle detect the type of impact and trigger the system when required.
Do not drive your vehicle with a faulty or broken clock spring. A damaged clock spring can make the vehicle difficult to steer, affect safety features, and put the driver at risk.
A failing clock spring can cause issues with the horn, airbag system, cruise control, and steering wheel controls. Electrical interference or noise can also occur within the wiring.
Signs of a Faulty Clock Spring or Airbag Sensor:
-
SRS/Airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard
-
Horn not working
-
Clicking or unusual noises coming from the steering column
